Nicolina Ursetta - The Greek Goddess Athena

Have you ever met anyone that was born out of their dads head? Are you sure? Well lucky for you to find this blog, because a Greek goddess named Athena was born in a very extraordinary way! Lets start from the beginning, Athena's mom (Metis) thought that she was going to have a boy. Then Zeus (the father) didn't want his son to conquer  him so Zeus ate Metis. So her mother ended up having a girl.So that leads to Athena's mom having Athena in Zeus. Finally one day Zeus was having major headaches and he went to Ares, Hephaestus, and Poseidon, they cracked open his head and Athena was a fully armed woman in her fathers head.

Athena was the goddess of wisdom and war. She hated the idea of fighting with out a purpose because she was a very loving person. Athena had no children or spouse. Which is hard to believe since she was so loving. The goddess of war & wisdom was one of the 12 Olympians. The 12 Olympians were the principal gods. The 12 main Olympians were Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Dionysus, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus and Hermes.

Athena had a very good impact on the Greeks. The Greeks probably honored and loved Athena because she was very loving and nice. I think that they would have thrown roses and cherish her a lot. That's my opinion because as people say treat others as you want to be treated and she did that. To me she seems like she would be the goddess of love instead of war but that's just my opinion. I guess that's pretty much it for now!

marcos ruvalcaba - Hephaestus god of fire

Have you  ever heard of the god Hephaestus? Well  here are some facts about Hephaestus did you know he was the god of fire and forge and blacksmiths. His  strengths are metal working, and his symbol is fire, forge,  hammer, axe and pincers. Hephaestus is married to Aphrodite but she has affairs with Ares god of war. His parents are Zeus and Hera but some say just Hera. His forge is in a volcano and worked with the one eyed cyclops. He  also created  the first women named Pandora. He was  also thrown of mount Olympus and found by a naiad  and made her jewelry. Then Hera asked for her son back. He was the blacksmith of the gods and made weapons for a war.

Hephaestus  he sat next to Poseidon on Olympus, throne was made of metal and he was two thrones away from his dad Zeus.  when he walks he's wobbling because of his dad thrown him off Olympus.   I think  people  made sacrifices  to him because he's the god of blacksmith. So blacksmiths made sacrifices  so they could make the best  weapons. Also he created  the fire he is god of forge. Also he made weapons for wars so they have to give him sacrifices.

Hephaestus lived in Athens and there the blacksmiths  really loved him. Hephaestus used his axe to cut open his skull and the Athena came out fully armed ready for battle.  His name in roman is Vulcan short for volcano. He got revenge on Hera because she rejected him he built a throne that when she sat on it she was trapped. The gods asked him to release her but he said no he released Hera and for that his re ward was that Aphrodite would be his bride.  That's the god I did  in this report so I hope you learned a lot about him.

Carmen Rodriguez - The Greek Goddess of Love

Do you ever worry about your love troubles? If you have, then you should think about the Greek Goddess of love, Aphrodite! Aphrodite was from Greece. She was born out of sea foam when her dad (Zeus or Ouranos) was cut and blood dripped into the sea. The blood started to foam and then a giant sea shell rose out of the sea and on top was a beautiful, full grown, Aphrodite. It's still a mystery who her real parents were but let's not get to into that. She was one of the twelve Olympians. Mount Olympus was obviously in Greece if Aphrodite was the Greek Goddess of love. Well then, we should get a little bit more into Aphrodite herself.

Aphrodite had a big role in her society. She was the Goddess of love (as I mentioned before) and beauty. She was in charge of all love situations including marriages. She would make a person fall in love with you and then you would make a sacrifice to her. You had to be grateful or else she would either curse you or make the people not love each other anymore. All love, marriage, and beauty problems would mean you would have to pray to Aphrodite if you were a Greek. What a difficult role huh? If all the love gossip is bad at school, imagine all the Greeks!

Moving on, Aphrodite had a great impact on society. All things love and beauty were her responsibility. Everyone who wanted to get lucky in love had to pray to Aphrodite. If you were ungrateful, Aphrodite would do bad things to you. Like one couple, she turned them into lions. She was vain, bad tempered, jealous, and unfaithful. That's the reason she was married to Hephaestus, the God of blacksmith, but loved Ares, the God of war. She didn't care if what she did was wrong. She knew her husband would forgive her because of her beauty. She put a curse on Eos because she got jealous of her affair with Ares. See how mean she can be? Well that's pretty much it! Now, you know as much as I know about the Greek Goddess of love and beauty Aphrodite as me!

Hope Moore- Nyx,the greek goddess of night

Nyx is a old goddess, she was at the way beginning she was before the titans.Who she is and her family,  Nyx is the goddess of night, she is the daughter of Chaos, she had no mother. her siblings are Erebus, Gaia, and Tartarutus. the goddess has many kids such as,Hypnos (god of sleep), Thantos(death), Momus(blame), Moros(doom), Charion(the ferryman of Hades), Oreiroin(dreams),the Moirae, the Keres, and the Hesperides(the three fates), Nemeisis(retribution), Apate(deception), Philotes(friends) Geras(age),and Eris(strife), she had all those kids on her own. She had Aether(air) and Hermerma(day) with her brother Erebus.Erebus is said to be her consort in some stories. Nyx is most of the time seen with wings driving a chariot with the night all around her, she is sometimes seen as a shadowy figure as well, might have been wearing a dark  gown with mist around her.

Nyx was older, and had more power then Zeus, her son Hypnos ran to her when he on Hera comand put Zeus to sleep so she could have Hercules have some miss fortune  in the trajon war Zeus was furious with Hypnos , Zues wouldn't dare strike Hypnos down because he was frightened of getting Nyx angry.  The goddess was worshiped but out of fear, and other reasons but mostly out of fear. She was even feared by most titans and gods. Nyx spent some of her time in the Tartarutus with her son Thantos . Sometimes she is said to have stayed in a gloomy house in the west. She would past her daughter Hermara (goddess of day) at sunset and sunrise. Nyx was said to protect the spies in Trojan War. Nyx could call bring sleep or death on mankind. She is also not all bad though. Even though she is the symbol of the night she still can be good she could make even pain go away she was indeed a very powerful goddess.
